Curious on accuracy and reliability.
Played with one in 7mm mauser years ago. The biggest mistake folks make is using 7x57 ammo that is intended for a bolt action. For the rifle to work reliably, you need to tailor the powder, much like the M14 platform.

I assume you should consider the same for the 8mm and. Thanks from Pappy I read that the Argentine Navy converted a bunch to 7. Which are you considering? I see the 7mm ones fairly often also, and have seen exactly one of the 7. There is a lot of great history behind these.
I have owned a few over the years, they are extremely well built and rather fool proof. I have always thought that if I ever desired to get another one it would be a 7.
These rifles have gone up considerably in price especially the and 7. I have two currently, an 8mm Egyptian and the Argy Navy. Both very reliable and good shooters.
Field strips in under a minute and that includes the adjustable gas system which is all but identical to the FAL. Beware of Egyptians that were imported by CAI as these often have a replacement stock of questionable wood. Look for brass butt plate and stock medallion the ensure original. May 11, Gyrene - On the middle sling swivel, this feature is similar that that used on many of the sniper rifles in the United Kingdom, the LeeEnfield No. Perhaps due to the British influence in Egypt this feature was adopted for these last 2, Egyptians. This feature is supposedly for an alternate position for the sling in some shooting positions although I have never read any military tech manual issued by Egypt [or the UK] that would confirm this use.
There are at least 3 different serial number ranges where the Egyptian-contract FNs have the scope mount dovetail machined in the left receiver rail. Your rifle is in the highest of these three serial number ranges. The data is showing that just about all Egyptians from around serial number 28XXX up to XX rifles have the scope cut.
Lastly, probably as few as several hundred, or less, rifles in this range have the wood cheekpiece that would indicate a true "sniper" rifle. In addition to the wood cheekpiece, I have seen a photo of an Egyptian "sniper" with a leather cheekpiece but have no idea if it was original equipment. At any rate, this is a long-winded way of saying that your rifle is in the "sniper" serial number range but was probably never actually a sniper in Egyptian service due to the lack of the cheekpiece and the FN-supplied muzzle brake.
See my first post on this thread for the link to the results. As I say in all my survey requests, I do not retain any data in the data base other information related to the rifle itself.
I don't retain any names in the data nor do I retain, and usually don't know, the geographic region of the respondent. The only exception to this is when I get a response from a foreign country, I make note of that. My interest is strictly historical in nature. I give up fidelity of my data by requesting that respondents plug in an "X" or 2 in their serial numbers. I'm not running a registration scheme or have any other motive than to just get lots of data about the physical characteristics of the rifles so I can figure out how many were sold to whom, in what configuration, with what features like scope cuts.
Take a look at the survey summary on the FAL board and you'll see some interesting stuff. I found the site you posted, and it seems to be that some data you had, near FN's, was not included because your survey post showed FN rifles.
GyreneJun 10, The FN rifle is a classic battle rifle. It was designed by Dieudonne J. Saive in the dark days before the Second World War. Saive fled Belgium prior to its occupation by Germany with his new design.
Working at the Royal Arsenal at Enfield, he continued his design work throughout the war, but the British military showed little interest in changing from their proven Lee-Enfield rifles to a new, unproven semi-automatic rifle. So it was that when the war ended D. Saive returned home to Belgium to continue his work there for Fabrique Nationale.
The Belgian military adopted the FN in. Total production wasrifles. The production and distribution were as follows: There were variations on the original rifle including Sniper versions with a leather cheek pad, and the scope and mount.
There were rare 20 round magazine versions produced. Its performance was reportedly favorable in comparison to that of the M1 Garand rifle in use by the US forces. Since the rifle does exist in a selective fire configuration, those machine guns would require registration under the NFA.
The rifle does fall under the provisions of the Crime Bill since it has a detachable magazine, it has a threaded barrel and a bayonet lug. The new firearms control legislation in Canada requires the rifle to be registered along with all other firearms prior to In Canada, only the Semi-auto version may be owned, unless the owner registered their select fire version in The FN is a gas operated, air cooled, magazine fed semi-automatic or fully-automatic rifle that fires from a closed bolt.
The gas system on the FN is located above the barrel. There is a gas port 6.Participation Requirements: Valid Credit Card required for bidding approval. Sales Tax: Click here for tax information.
